DS Logon is being slowly phased out and replaced by MyAuth. This is happening gradually, not all at once, as a PHASED rollout with different applications coming onboard at different times. myAuth is more secure and will become the standard login for DoD sites with a single login. It has advantages over DS Logon such as sending you passcodes via personal email or authentication app. To find out which applications are using myAuth login to the MyAuth Dashboard. All the applications currently available by MyAuth are listed there. Simply, click an applications icon and it will open.
Yes, for now, until all DOD applications have migrated to using MyAuth.
Three (3) Logon Methods to MyAuth: Username/Password, Okta FastPass, and CAC card (which as retirees we do not have). Help for creating your account is at https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/help/topics/creating_a_new_myauth_account.htm.

BLUF: DS Logon is being replaced with myAuth as stated above, however, the phased approach of the myAuth rollout will take time, so maintain your DS Logon account to ensure you can login to websites not yet under the myAuth profile
Go to https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/app/login and click the Need Support? button at the bottom of the page. This will open a pfd file.

This is the preferred logon account method for many websites to include SSA and VA. ID.me is a commercial, government contracted company providing the next-generation digital identity wallet that simplifies how you securely prove their identity online. It is an online verification tool for individuals to prove their identity.
Creating an ID.me account and verifying your identity for the account is basically done in one of two ways:
- by using a U.S. phone (ugh)
- via a video interview with a trusted agent to verify you during the online account registration. Their online process is pretty straight forward, just follow the buttons. The waiting time for the online interview can be lengthy, so be patent. There is a big clock they put on-screen to help you manage your time while waiting.
You will need a combination of several documents such as your Social Security card, Passport, Drivers License, W-2, 1099's, and others. The website has a list showing the options, but it isn't until you begin the process and get several screens in until you reach it. There is a SAVE & EXIT button along the way. If you SAVE & EXIT you will receive an email with a link that will take you right back to the spot you exited from.

The first time you log in with this new account i.e. logging into SSA or VA, ID.me requires you to perform a one-time verification of yourself, which is where the below options come into play.

Login.gov is not necessarily the go-to account for those living overseas to have and use. Creating a LOGIN.gov account is not difficult, BUT getting verified to use it on all websites is difficult if you do not have a U.S. state issued drivers license and U.S. phone number. If you do not have these, we recommend you don't even bother with LOGIN.gov and Use ID.me instead.
- Personal email address (not work address)
- Secure password at least 12 characters
- Authentication method such as: Face or touch unlock, Security key, Authentication app, Text/voice message (U.S. phone), Backup codes
- Social Security Number
- U.S. address
- U.S. state-issued unexpired ID
- U.S. phone number

Authy is a Two-factor authentication (2FA) app, and while not the only one out there, it is a top rated authenticator tool. If you are considering protecting yourself by enabling a two-factor authentication (highly recommended), this app works well for blocking anyone using your stolen data by verifying your identity through your device. It's easy to use and can be used for many online accounts. And it works offline so you access secured websites without internet access on your phone. Your webmaster currently uses it for 8 different logon accounts.

Sponsors can update certain DEERS data on themselves and their dependents on the DMDC website ID Card Online (IDCO). Some Personal data is not editable because it is authenticated data from within DEERS that can only be changed if a sponsor visits a DEERS Office. But as you see from the images here, some data in a DEERS record can be changed in IDCO.
Discontinued
The AFN Decoder Box lo longer exists. There is no longer satellite service for AFN. AFN is now all on AFN NOW, which is an app for Smart TV's and Cell Phones (Smart phones, not antique phones). Registering with AFN NOW still requires your DEERS data to be accurate as described in the Updating DEERS in ID Card Online above.
