The Retiree and Widows Support Office was opened to fill the gap in retiree assistance created when the US Army's Retirement Services Office's mission became focused solely on retiring Active Duty members. The RWSO is not a brick & mortar facility, but rather a virtual office staffed by military retiree volunteers. These volunteers assist retirees, widows and family members with issues concerning Social Security, Veterans Affairs, Korean National Health Insurance, and many many other processes. The RWSO also provides Casualty Assistance Officer type duties when military spouses pass away. RWSO includes Veteran Service Officer (VSO) personnel and all work closely with the Retiree Council.
