DFAS & Financial Assistance

DFAS Support in While in Korea

BLUF: There is no DFAS representative or office in Korea.

The question comes up if there is a rep here or not, and the answer is no, there is no DFAS representation in Korea. If a finance office on-base cannot assist you with a pay issue, which will usually be the case when it comes to retired pay, your best course of action is to use AskDFAS at https://www.dfas.mil/dfas/AskDFAS/ and submit a trouble ticket.

DFAS myPay Account

If you've never used myPay, visit the myPay website at https://mypay.dfas.mil and click "Forgot or Need a Password". This will have a temporary password mailed to you. Once you have received a password, return to the myPay home page and click "Create an Account". Enter your SSN and temporary password. If you see a message similar to this in red: “The combination you entered is incorrect. You have already created a LOGIN ID and should not be using your SSN to log in. Please try again”, this means you already have a login ID and you’ve probably just forgotten about it. You need to go back to the myPay home page and click “Forgot your Login ID?” Enter your SSN and the temporary password to have your Login ID displayed on screen. Then, return to the home page to login.

If you have trouble, call myPay at 888-332-7411 to speak to a Customer Service Representative.

myPay passwords expire every 180 days. It is highly recommended you make it a routine to login to myPay so you are kept informed of your status.

Financial Assistance Programs

As a military retiree you are eligible to receive emergency financial assistance from Military Aid Societies, as are your dependent spouses, and widow(er) of a retiree. These financial assistance programs are critical lifelines when members of our military's force, active or retired, and families are most in need. Obtaining assistance through these programs can mean the difference between a short-term financial setback or a long-term and costly financial obligation.  Keep reading to learn more about:
